Note by the artist on the back reads, "I am a good Indian. I was a great warrior when a young man - I have taken a scalp of big Crow Chief. I'm old now & go no more on war path - I'm [a] friend of all white people. My people send me to Washington. I'm a good Indian, I have never been to jail - This is the final speech he gave, wanting to impress upon me he's a good Indian now as in the past...Painted in his tipi on Blackfoot Res. Mont. 1910"
