Description:
Scheuerle wrote, "Sun Road - Arapahoe. A real mean old timer and never adopted the new deal - He was a leader in the Ghost Dances of his people during the Messiah Craze of 1890-91 - Must be close to 90 years old-[Joseph Henry] Sharp painted him about 10 years ago - Fought with the Sioux and Cheyennes in many engagements with the white troups. I painted Sun Road in Corall Camp out of Fort Washaki Agency - Wind River Res. Wyo-1917".
