Brad always wanted to be a Marine. As a young boy he would read "Fightin Marines" comic books, and play war all the time. While most kids wanted to be firemen or astronauts, Brad wanted to be just like his dad Murray, uncles Charles, Albert, George and George, Julius, and cousins Doug, Neil and Kelly. He wanted to wear the marines’ uniform, be tough and protect America. In 1986 this dream came true. Brad followed in the footsteps of six uncles, two cousins and his father when he enlisted in the Marine Corps. After graduation from boot camp at MCRD San Diego, he was stationed in Okinawa Japan; followed by Camp Pendleton, and Camp Lejeune NC. He enjoyed the time he spent in the Marine Corps where he was allowed the honor to serve the United States, the great State of Montana, and the citizens of Missoula. During his enlistment he received several unit and personal awards. He participated in several CAX's, a deployment to the Mediterranean, and the first Gulf War. Injuries accumulated during his enlistment eventually caught up to him and he was medically discharged under honorable conditions in 1993.
