Description:
An American painter, Felix Ruvolo, was born in New York City and grew up in Sicily, Italy. He returned to the United States, where he studied at the Art Institute of Chicago. He became a professional painter and began exhibiting his artwork.
This painting successfully exhibits the tenets of abstract expressionism with a sense of the grand gesture and spontaneous brushstroke, relying heavily on pinks and red. There are areas of other color - greens, blues, oranges, whites and black coming through in the underpainting. There is no focal point in this canvas, instead the eye is whipped around and rides from one rapid gesture to the next.
