Description:
World War II brought the return of prosperity to Montana. Rain once again covered the plains. Demand for agricultural commodities raised incomes for farmers and ranchers and the state saw an increase in manufacturing and defense-related work. Many Montana women entered the workforce for the first time. Despite a better economy, war rationing made materials for making quilts difficult to find. Nationally interest in quilting began to decline. Montana women, however, carried on the quilting tradition, bringing the craft into the modern era.

This detailed quilt commemorates the 100th year anniversary of Montana Wool Growers Association. The white wool blocks are crewel embroidered and each block depicts the history of the Montana sheep industry.
