Traditions in Color and Comfort: : Montana's Quilting Heritage
Title:
QUILT - BISQUIT PUFF
Date:
ca. 1872
Source:
Gift of Ken Kohl
Object ID:
1986.139.01
Description:
In all likelihood there were relatively few quilts made in Montana Territory, but settlers brought many quilts with them as they moved in from other parts of the country. Holding onto these treasures helped maintain a tactile and tangible connection to families and lives left far behind.

This unusual Biscuit Puff quilt was made by Melissa Howard-Jolley, of Callaway County, Missouri. It was inherited by Melissa's great-grandson Kenneth Kohl and brought to Montana in 1971.
