Description:
Originally titled 'Still Life' this painting has a dominate central field of orange upon which are arranged slate blue shapes outlined in black against a small tan rectangle, and below this a series of dark shapes arranged directly on the orange paint. Across the top edge of the canvas is a narrow slate blue band with the words FORIO d' ISCHIA 3 XVI etched through the grey pigment so that the white of the ground shows through the lettering. The bottom section occupies a fourth of the painting and is a composite of a series of rectangles, two that are slate blue, one that is sea green, and two putty colored rectangles. One of the gray- putty colored rectangles floats against a slate blue rectangle and has white marks on it made from three thick daubs of white paint.
