At the center of this painting is a chrome green rectangle with white lines being drawn from each corner, intersecting in the middle. Surrounding this rectangle is a black field with a yellow strip of color running horizontal across the top of the painting. A scrawl of words in colorful pale orange and white bind the two areas of color together. The white sand of the title is a heavily impastoed passage of paint that occupies the bottom third of the painting. The simple contour of a bird has been achieved in the wet paint. There is a small orange rectangular area of paint coming directly from it's tailfeathers.
