Methodist Episcopal pastor Horace Turner married Barber residents Eveline Baker (age twenty) and John Nelson (age twenty-nine) in Ryegate, on June 23, 1915. Eveline ordered her silk satin and lace dress, decorated with glass beads, from the National Cloak and Suite Company in New York. The company offered a money back guarantee and promised that "If you send your orders to us you are sure to be fashionable attired in the latest New York style." Eveline completed her outfit with long, white, silk-knitted gloves and shoes which she decorated with glass-beaded bows.
